Job Description

The Minor League Baseball (MiLB) Stringer role is responsible for digitally scoring Minor League Baseball games on-site at the ballpark. Stringers provide accurate, real-time data for MiLB.com platforms, including Gameday, live highlights and text alearts. This position requires strong attention to details, technical proficiency and a solidy understanding of baseball rules and scoring. The role is part-time and involves working during live games to ensure timely and precise data delivery.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Confirm all pre-game details, including rosters, umpire assignments and weather conditions
  • During the game, enter the results of every pitch and game event (plays, substitutions, etc.) using our proprietary software and coding language
  • Communicate with game-night support staff via Slack to resolve scoring questions and maintain data accuracy
  • Complete post-game data entry and verify all statistics against the official box score
  • Ensure real-time data entry with minimal delays
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues (network connectivity, software errors)
  • Maintain professionalism in press box and adhere to MLB conduct standards

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Strong knowledge of baseball and how to score a baseball game
  • Strong computer proficiency (Windows OS, Windows-based software and Chrome browser) and the ability to quickly learn and operate new software
  • Knowledge and use of Slack chat software
  • Network connection management (Ethernet, Wi-Fi enabling/Disabling; test MAC Address )
  • Previous experience (including pressbox exposure) with a professional or college sports team, preferably baseball, is preferred
  • Ability to work independently under time-sensitive conditions
  • Ability to be a collaborative team player with a positive attitude- open to learning from mistakes, receptive to feedback, and able to work closely and cooperatively with our game-night staff

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Work Hours

Hours vary according to the game and event schedule, which will include weekends and some holidays.

Must have availability to work most games and special events
