    Summary: The Senior Director – Entertainment & Event Production will bring vision and production expertise to a key role within the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club (“Brewers”). This position is responsible for planning and directing Brewers in-game entertainment and brand events, inside and outside the ballpark. Responsibilities include the oversight of all aspects of the Brewers game day event presentation, show production (including scoreboard presentation and design, show operations and game day staffing), and special entertainment opportunities (leading concept development, creative direction, and execution).  With imagination, smart strategy, and exceptional production management, this role will help define the Brewers fan experience.

     

    The Senior Director works within the marketing team to integrate experiential fan entertainment and events with overall brand marketing strategies.  They will also collaborate with creative counterparts in design and video to develop content for in-game entertainment and event activations that are “on brand” and drive fan engagement. The Senior Director heads a team consisting of a Senior Manager – Entertainment & Event Production, along with a robust seasonal staff that includes a show director, video display operators, cameramen, brand ambassadors, and related personnel necessary for the full spectrum of production requirements.

     

    The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five to seven years’ experience in live entertainment events and experiential marketing production and execution, with a history of increasing responsibility in planning and management of entertainment and event experiences. Exceptional leadership, demonstrated creative and strategic thinking, superior problem-solving ability, and excellent communication skills are required.

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include development of live entertainment, experiential marketing plans and strategies, creative ideation, project planning, staff management, and budget supervision.     Idea Creation & Experience Innovation

    • Define experiential objectives and the creative vision for Brewers’ entertainment and event production
    • Lead the exploration, planning, and implementation of production/theatrical elements to enhance overall game entertainment and event presentation
    • Conceptualize, develop and facilitate the implementation of creative programming related to all in-stadium entertainment (e.g., sponsor features, fan contests, music performances, mascot skits, etc.)
    • Lead concepting and development of Brewers event experiences; oversee planning and execution of brand activations and events outside the ballpark

     

    Communication & Teamwork

    • Foster a positive and productive work environment, especially in high-pressure situations, and balance a sense of urgency with a calm and confident demeanor
    • Work closely with the VP-Marketing to build experiential plans that support and enhance Brewers brand marketing efforts
    • Collaborate with Marketing’s creative resources for Brewers entertainment and event experience ideation and video board content for all home games and special events
    • Leverage consumer research from Brewers Strategy and Analytics department to identify new fan experience enhancements
    • Collaborate with Information Technology department on latest trends with game presentation, production, broadcasting and special events to improve overall fan interaction
    • Provide oversight for the management of the Brewers Brew Crew and Street Team (e.g. auditions and hiring process, budgeting, scheduling, uniforms, supplies, etc.)
    • Support Corporate Partnerships, Community Relations, and other departments to ensure individual departmental needs (e.g. promotions, on-field activities, Brewers presence in the community, etc.) are satisfied
    • Manage Brewers relationships with vendors, facility, affiliates and entertainers

     

    Processes

    • Develop standard operating procedures, checklists, and training materials for areas of oversight and institute positive culture of process and accountability
    • Develop gameday communication plans required to achieve successful results (i.e., pregame production meeting each home game to review game format and responsibilities, etc.)
    • Develop and oversee corporate partnership inventory within game presentation and special events while coordinating clients’ needs to meet and exceed expectations
    • Create comprehensive rundowns for game presentations, maintaining game standards pertaining to MLB league rules and regulations
    • Supervise game presentation, audio/video production, promotions, entertainment, gameday operations and special events
    • Ensure content produced is representative of the Brewers brand
    • Oversee the proper execution and implementation of all promotional elements (sponsored or otherwise) during games and at off-site events

    Qualifications

    Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university
    • Minimum 5+ years’ experience and a proven track record within an event/entertainment production and/or marketing environment with a focus on live event and sports or entertainment productions
    • Widespread knowledge of creative entertainment, game operations, event logistics, technical operations and production
    • Highly organized, strongly self-motivated, and the ability to multi-task activities with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
    • Strong decision-making, problem resolution, and creative thinking skills; superior attention to detail and results-oriented mindset
    • Experience working collaboratively with creative teams
    • Experience using project management tools
    • Experience managing project budgets
    • Experience managing clients (internal or external) on project scope and delivery
    • Outstanding track record in leadership of people; ability to develop and motivate a team, while maintaining a positive, diverse, creative, and high-performance culture. Readily accepts feedback from others and provides vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates.  Displays enthusiasm, passion and optimism
    • Proven ability to build and sustain positive, credible working relationships with staff and internal clients
    • Must be extremely flexible with non-traditional work schedule.

     

    Computer Skills  

    To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software.

     

    Language Skills                                                

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

    Mathematical Skills                                                     

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

     

    Reasoning Ability      

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Work Hours                                                     

    Business hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5pm, however, additional hours will be required on weekends, evenings and some holidays.
