    Summary

    Implement and follow strength & conditioning program as designed by Major League Strength and Conditioning Coach.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Other duties may be assigned.

    • Implement and follow strength & conditioning program as designed by Major League Strength and Conditioning Coach
    • Conduct team stretches, warm-up, agility, lifting and running programs
    • Supervise workouts
    • Report any problems/injuries to Major League Strength Coach/Athletic trainers
    • Communicate daily with manager, coaches and athletic trainer
    • Give assisted, individual stretches
    • Conduct team weigh-ins on time every 2 weeks
    • Responsible for bi-monthly player reports
    • Keep weight room clean and organized at all times
    • Continuous evaluation of all player’s physical development
    • Be able to motivate and educate players on importance of strength and conditioning program

    Qualifications

    Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • In process of study, or recently completed, program in strength and conditioning or rec related field
    • Commit to working 3 weeks of Spring training in Arizona (housing, meal money, and carpool provided)
    • Commit to working full season (home games only)
    • Ability to work long hours a must
    • Ability to follow directions a must
    • CSCS Preferred
    • Spanish speaker preferred

     

    Education and/or Experience

    Candidates must be currently enrolled or recently completed a degree in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree or certification in a strength and conditioning related field

     

    Computer Skills  

    To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.    

     

    Other Skills and Abilities        

    Ability to speak Spanish preferred

     

    Language Skills                                                

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

     

    Mathematical Skills                                                     

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

     

    Reasoning Ability      

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Work Hours

    Work hours vary according to game schedule. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours if needed.

     

    Compensation

    This Internship opportunity if unpaid. The selected candidate will be eligible to receive college credit upon the completion of Internship.
