The Director of Security will be a full-time position, located at Maryvale Baseball Park. This individual will be responsible for providing clear, and concise direction as it pertains to all game-day, and year-round security and safety operations for the Maryvale Site.  The Director of Security will be expected to identify and be fully informed about the nature and types of safety and security risks that may affect the Organization and the public attending events at the Maryvale Baseball Park and to develop and implement the appropriate plans, resources, preparedness exercises and controls to mitigate those risks.

  • Oversee and schedule 24/7 security for the Maryvale Site and achieve the highest industry standards for safety and security
  • Retain, supervise, and direct the deployment of on-site, life-safety personnel, including security, parking, other event staff, law enforcement, fire officials, and EMT’s.
  • Ensure event security meets the standards of MLB “Best Operating Practices”
  • Ensure that all shift related issues, observations, and critical information are documented, verified, and accurately reported to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Conduct proper investigations and inquiries into all matters that may adversely impact the safety and security of the Organization’s personnel, the public, or the venue, including, without limitation, all accidents or incidents involving safety and security that occur on the premises of Maryvale Complex. Prepare detailed reports of each investigation and deliver such reports to the Maryvale Site General Manager. 
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the Safety and Security Operations and all Event Operations for Spring Training games and all other events
  • Oversee and schedule the safe and successful parking operations for all events; as deemed necessary
  • Directly responsible for the development and implementation of the following documents and plans:
    • Crisis Management Team for Maryvale Baseball Park
    • Threat Protocols and Plans
    • Emergency Response Plan
    • Mail/Delivery Protocols
  • Direct liaison to MLB and responsible for security, and compliance with Best Stadium Operating Practices and Department of Homeland Security Safety Act as required
  • Direct liaison to the Milwaukee Brewers for any updates on MLB procedures, and continued responsible for compliance with the MLB Best Stadium Operating Practices and DHS Safety Act requirements
  • Establish and maintain an on-going relationship with the City of Phoenix Police and Fire and Rescue Departments, EMT Services, FBI, and other localized federal authorities
  • Oversee all Guest Relations as well as Safety and Security to ensure the highest industry standard of employee training, performance and working environment as well as budget compliance and overall guest experience Complete all other duties otherwise assigned
  • Communicate with clubhouse staff, Senior Director of Travel and ownership group to ensure security integrity for players, umpires and VIP’s.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years in a related position is preferred
  • Background in law enforcement or related field is preferred

Computer Skills  

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.    


Language Skills                                              

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills                                                    

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
