Overview

“Muddy the Mudcat” is the main face of the Mudcats Organization (Carolina League Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers). Muddy the Mudcat mascot will be asked to generate a lively game by engaging the crowd and keeping a high energy atmosphere. Muddy will perform at schools, community events and parades, building goodwill for baseball and the Mudcats. Muddy may also represent the team at birthday parties, company events and other special events as needed.

Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform at games and outside appearances, focusing on positive fan engagement
  • Train and prepare for appearances
  • Manage appearance calendar to ensure attendance for all scheduled events
  • Work with Community Relations department to plan and perform at events
  • Perform mascot duties in a manner deemed acceptable according to the Mudcats and affiliate standards and ethics
  • Pull tarp on field as necessary

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Education and/or Experience

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Computer Skills  

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.    

 

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience in mascot/costume character role
  • Positive and outgoing personality
  • Must have ability to work all home games
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include nights and weekends

Language Skills                                             

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                   

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability      

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.  The employee must be able to run for short periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, which may include heat, cold and various forms of precipitation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 

Work Hours                                                  

Business hours are Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5pm, however, additional hours may vary according to the game and event schedule.
